 YMCA Mindfulness Groups

These Groups are for youth ages 18-30 who experience stress and anxiety who need help learning how to cope.

 

It's a free 7 week program, Tuesday evenings 5-7:30pm
Includes an all inclusive fitness and aquatics membership for the duration of the program.

 Transitions Youth Employment Program

Program Highlights:
  • Learning up-to-date job search techniques
  • Developing strategies to secure and maintain employment
  • Approaching employers with confidence
  • First Aid level 1 certificate & Food Safe level 1

 

Receive:
  • 4 weeks of group training while receiving an hourly wage
  • 6 weeks of paid work experience with coaching and support
  • Up to 180 hours of wage reimbursement to an employer as a hiring incentive

 

Requirements:
  • ages 16-30
  • not a full time student
  • non EI recipient

Program length:  7 weeks; Mon-Thurs 9:00am - 3:00pm

 

Certificates:  First Aid, WHIMIS, Safe Talk, Superhost, Naloxone, Goal Setting, Personality Dimensions, NVCI, Food Safe, Serving it Right, Responsible Adult (18+)

 

  • Security Training (2 groups)

Program length:  7 weeks starting April 8/19

 

     First group: 8:30am-12pm

                   Accepting 10 students, 18-24 years of age 

     Second group:  12:30pm-4pm

                   Accepting 10 students, 24-29 years of age

  • Adventure Tourism

Program length: 6 week employment program for ages 15-29

 

A fun-filled program with hands-on learning from industry employers

 

Students can expect to gain employment in restaurants, campgrounds, hotels, festivals, at Sun Peaks, and MUCH MORE

 

We will be doing LOTS of offsite tours such as: Tourism Centre, Canoe ride, Indigenous Story Telling, Meet a Conservation Officer and Hotel Tours.

 

Certificates: SUPERHOST Service, Food Safe, Serving it Right, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, Wilderness and Bear Awareness, Pleasure Craft Operating Course, Safe Talk, Indigenous Awareness, WHMIS, Naloxone Training, Wood Tick Safety and more.

Interior Health Measles Immunization Catch-up Program  (April - June 2019)

If you have kids in K-12 who are not up-to-date for measles (MMR) vaccinations
Kindergarten - you will receive an automated phone call reminder 
Grades 1 to 12 - schools will send consent packages if your child requires a MMR vaccine
